See more of the battlefield with Allocate v1.1
I finally had a little time to put towards a post-jam version of Allocate so I could address the most significant issue in the game; the limited viewport. Even considering "allocating" power is literally the name of the game, the Manual Targeting feature is just as, if not more important. This was a significant issue for the Turrets located towards the top and bottom of the screen; their maximum manual target range went off screen, meaning they would usually get killed by incoming tanks before the user had enough time to react..
A simple fix
It isn't exactly an elegant solution, but I've expanded the viewport's default size to be far more zoomed out. You can use the scroll-wheel on the mouse, or the + / - keys to zoom in / out (if you really want to?). Most likely, you'll want to play the game at the maximum zoom level. Of course, the main reason I had tanks spawning off-screen was to hide the fact that they just "pop" into existence, and I haven't masked this much. Their opacity goes from zero to one; let's say it's their active-camo disengaging as they come into optical range.
Look how far you can see now! With this advantage, surely I'll reclaim the highest score!
Or not. The highest score I've seen in Allocate is 660 by Boykala, who is too good at this game.
I hope you enjoy this slight tweak to Allocate! There are a few other bug fixes for good measure, and I've published a new EXE of the game that should run at a consistent 60 FPS (just like the web version, wow!)
